10. Death Note
This may be number 10, but that doesn’t mean it’s horrible. Death Note is about a notebook. This notebook is called the Death Note. It has the ability to kill whoever you want without getting your hands dirty. The main character, Light, finds the notebook and finds out that he could do great things with the book. In the anime, you watch Light go through many tough adventures because of his book. After a while a character comes up that I don’t particularly like but it’s still a great anime once you keep watching.
9. Naruto
A young boy named Naruto has no parents and nobody likes him. It seems like the only thing he has is his wish to become the Hokage (leader) of his village. He trains hard and soon his hard work pays off, he learns of a secret power and becomes powerful. There’s no way you can watch it all in one night but hey, you can try. There’s around 500 episodes including Naruto Shippuden.
8. Haikyuu
Volleyball. Might not sound too interesting, but when it comes to this anime, it is. It’s about a boy named Hinata who has a passion for volleyball. Problem is, he’s super short and his friends don’t wanna form a team with him. He eventually convinces them and they get to their first tournament, they don’t win but they play well for newbies. You get to learn a lot about Volleyball in this anime, it might even help you get good at it if you play.
7. Angel Beats
The afterlife, everyone wonders about it sometime in their lives. Well, this is about purgatory. Whether you believe in it or not, I’m certain you will enjoy this anime to the fullest. The main character died and is thrown into purgatory where there are npc’s and real people. To live in this world you have to survive against Angel, a girl who everyone believes is an angel who tries to kill them a lot. Nobody remembers how they died or their name at first but it slowly comes back to them as they survive. There’s a lot more to it and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
6. Ouran Highschool Host club
Haruhi is a simple highschool boy. He is also an honor student who was accepted into one of the richest schools for free where she meets the Ouran Highschool Host Club. However, things go wrong and he is forced to join this club that is specifically for girls who love to see hot boys. OHHC is a hilarious anime and has many mysteries about the characters. You should definitely watch it.
5. Gen:LOCK
This anime is made by the same creators who made RWBY, but it’s a lot different. This is about human controlled mecha’s fifty years into the future. These mecha’s aren’t controlled by people inside though, only the mind. The anime starts off with Julian Chase who is a pilot fighting against evil attacking his city along with his girlfriend. Plot twist, Julian crashes and is declared as dead, or is he? It’s only one season, but it is definitely amazing.
4. Black Butler
Ciel is a rich young boy in England who’s parents died in a horrible house fire. Having nowhere else to turn, he made a deal with a demon which he named Sebastian so that he would always be safe. Here, you can see the amazing things that Sebastian does along with Ciel who is surprisingly smart for a twelve year old.
3. Tokyo Ghoul
Tokyo Ghoul is about monsters called “Ghouls.” Ghouls look like humans, until they get hungry. Then their eyes turn black and their pupils turn red. Ghouls eat humans in this world, which is tough for everyone. Ghouls have things called “kagunes” which can be used to kill. And no, they can’t eat regular food or animals to survive. If they do that they will die.
This anime is about Kaneki, a kid who just wanted a date, but all he got was a bloodthirsty ghoulfriend. After his encounter, he wakes up only to find that he himself has turned half ghoul. And no, it’s not a disease where if they bite you you turn into them. There is a LOT more to the story, which is why you should watch it. It is gory, so don’t watch if you can’t handle that.
2.Attack On Titan
In a world where giant titan people eat normal human people. It’s a very gruesome anime so if you have a sensitive stomach, this anime is not for you. It’s about a kid named Eren who’s life was ruined after titans broke through the wall protecting his city. This triggered years of wanting revenge for what the titans did to his city. In this, you can watch Eren chase his dream and discover secrets about the titans that he would never have even dreamed of.
1. My Hero Academia
This is definitely number one for me. I’m a little biased though because I love AU’s with superpowers. MHA is about a world with powers called “Quirks” these can be tails, actual powers like fire, or even powers that can erase quirks for a short amount of time.
In the anime, there are hero’s and villains. It follows the story of Izuku Midoriya, a soft quirkless green haired teenage boy. The whole anime is a flashback about how he becomes the number one hero. I highly recommend you watch it.
Honorable Mentions
Yuri On Ice
No, it is not a yaoi or shounen-ai (gay) no matter what people tell you. Yes, there are some questionable scenes but it teaches you a lot about figure skating and is very intriguing. This anime is about Yuri, a boy who has an amazing talent for figure skating but gives up after his first show because he lost so badly. He doesn’t give up though and eventually becomes the best skater in the world.
RWBY
Okay, the graphics are horrible in the first few seasons but it gets better! After you get passed that there is a great plotline. This anime is about Hunters and Huntresses with powers called “semblances.” Peoples semblance can be anything from super speed to being able to make clones of yourself.
The main character, Ruby Rose wants to become a huntress and defeat Grimm (creatures of darkness who are attracted to negative emotions and are evil) She’s trained for years and finally she makes it to her dream training school, Beacon academy. Now, it’s not just about her school ife cause that would be boring. There are many more details to the story, including secret powers and powerful enemy’s. There’s a new season every year around September.
